acid attack
Corrosive liquid violence
An acid attack is an assault in which a corrosive substance—typically sulfuric or hydrochloric acid—is thrown at a victim, usually targeting the face.
These attacks cause severe burns, permanent disfigurement, and often blindness.
Acid attacks are predominantly committed against women and are frequently motivated by rejected marriage proposals, domestic disputes, or honor-based grievances.
The crime carries harsh penalties in many jurisdictions and has prompted restrictions on acid sales in countries where attacks are common.
