aborted takeoff
Stopped before airborne
An aborted takeoff is a decision to cancel an aircraft's departure while still on the runway.
Pilots abort when something goes wrong during the takeoff roll—an engine failure, a warning light, an obstruction on the runway: The aborted takeoff was caused by a bird strike.
Also called a rejected takeoff.
