Yelp is an online platform where users post reviews of local businesses—restaurants, plumbers, dentists, and the like.
A business's Yelp rating can significantly affect its reputation: Check the Yelp reviews before booking that hotel.
To yelp something is to look it up there: I yelped the restaurant and it had four stars. (Lowercase yelp is a sharp cry.)
