Vietnamese people
Southeast Asian nationality
Vietnamese people are the ethnic majority of Vietnam, a Southeast Asian nation with a history shaped by Chinese influence, French colonialism, and war with the United States.
The term covers both citizens of Vietnam and the global diaspora—communities established largely after 1975 when many fled following the fall of Saigon.
The Vietnamese people I met in Houston still cook traditional phở.
