Victorian horror
Foggy London terror
Victorian horror is a genre of fiction set in or evoking the nineteenth-century British era, combining Gothic atmosphere with period anxieties about science, empire, and propriety.
Classic examples include Dracula, Frankenstein, and Jekyll and Hyde.
The genre trades on gaslit streets, fog-shrouded London, repressed sexuality, and the collision of rational progress with supernatural dread: a Victorian horror aesthetic of corsets, séances, and monstrous secrets.
