The Verrazano-Narrows Bridge is a suspension bridge connecting Staten Island and Brooklyn in New York City, spanning the Narrows strait at the entrance to New York Harbor.
When completed in 1964, it was the world's longest suspension bridge.
The New York City Marathon begins on the bridge each year.
Named for Giovanni da Verrazzano, the Italian explorer who entered the harbor in 1524.
