The Rainmaker

Promises precipitation professionally

A rainmaker is someone who brings in money or success—originally a lawyer who attracts high-paying clients, now extended to any business figure who generates revenue or closes major deals: She's the rainmaker who landed our biggest accounts.

The term comes from people who claimed they could summon rain, suggesting someone with almost magical ability to produce results.

In film and literature, *The Rainmaker* is a 1954 play (later a film) about a con man who promises rain to drought-stricken farmers, and separately a 1995 John Grisham novel about a young lawyer taking on an insurance company.
