Just Mercy

Death row advocacy

Just Mercy is a 2014 memoir by civil rights lawyer Bryan Stevenson, recounting his work defending wrongly convicted prisoners on death row, particularly Walter McMillian in Alabama.

The book became a bestseller and was adapted into a 2019 film.

The title captures Stevenson's argument that mercy and justice are inseparable—that true justice requires compassion for the condemned.
