The Hurricane is the ring name of Rubin Carter, an American middleweight boxer whose wrongful murder convictions became a cause célèbre.
Carter served nearly twenty years in prison before his convictions were overturned.
Bob Dylan's 1975 song "Hurricane" and the 1999 film *The Hurricane* brought his case widespread attention.
The nickname also belongs to professional wrestler Shane Helms, who performed as a superhero-styled character in WWE during the early 2000s.
