The Beverly Hillbillies

Ozark-to-mansion sitcom

An American television sitcom (1962–1971) about a poor Appalachian family that strikes oil and moves to wealthy Beverly Hills, California.

The show's comic premise—backwoods folk bewildered by upper-class customs, and vice versa—made it one of the most popular programs of its era.

The title is sometimes invoked to describe anyone who seems out of place in sophisticated surroundings: They pulled up in that rusty truck like the Beverly Hillbillies.
