Compact automatic weapon
The TEC-9 is a semi-automatic pistol manufactured in the 1980s and 1990s, notorious for its association with gang violence and mass shootings.
Its cheap construction, large magazine capacity, and menacing appearance made it a symbol of urban gun crime.
The weapon was banned by name under the 1994 Federal Assault Weapons Ban.
The shooter used a TEC-9.
