Snowy River
Victorian alpine stream
Snowy River is a river in southeastern Australia, flowing from the Snowy Mountains through Victoria to the Tasman Sea.
It gained cultural prominence through Banjo Paterson's 1890 poem "The Man from Snowy River," which celebrates a skilled horseman from the rugged high country.
The poem and its imagery have become iconic in Australian identity: He rode like a man from Snowy River.
