Shambala
Hidden Tibetan paradise
Shambala is a mythical enlightened kingdom in Tibetan Buddhist tradition, said to be hidden somewhere in the mountains of Central Asia.
It represents a pure land where wisdom and compassion flourish, accessible only to those spiritually prepared to find it.
The concept has been adapted in Western spirituality as a symbol of inner peace or utopia: seeking your own Shambala.
Also spelled Shambhala or Shangri-La, the latter popularized by James Hilton's 1933 novel.
