Saint Bernadette

French grotto seer

Saint Bernadette (1844–1879) was a French peasant girl who reported visions of the Virgin Mary at Lourdes, which became one of Catholicism's most visited pilgrimage sites.

Born Bernadette Soubirous, she was canonized in 1933 and is the patron saint of illness, poverty, and shepherds.
