Roman city
Empire's urban center
A Roman city is an urban settlement established or significantly developed by ancient Rome, typically featuring characteristic infrastructure: forums, baths, aqueducts, amphitheaters, and grid-pattern streets.
Many modern European and Mediterranean cities—London, Paris, Vienna, Cologne—began as Roman cities, their ancient names sometimes surviving: Londinium became London.
