Reading Rainbow
PBS book show
Reading Rainbow is an American children's television program that aired on PBS from 1983 to 2006, hosted by LeVar Burton.
Each episode explored a theme through documentary segments and featured Burton's signature encouragement to read: But you don't have to take my word for it.
The show promoted literacy by having children review books on camera.
The phrase has become nostalgic shorthand for childhood educational programming of that era.
