PAC money

Political donation pool

PAC money refers to funds raised and spent by political action committees—organizations that pool contributions to support or oppose candidates, legislation, or ballot initiatives.

In American politics, PAC money is often discussed critically as a vehicle for special interests to influence elections: The senator's campaign was fueled by PAC money from the pharmaceutical industry.

Super PACs, which emerged after 2010, can raise unlimited amounts but cannot coordinate directly with candidates.
