Mr. Tumnus

Mr.

Tumnus is a faun in C.S.

Lewis's *The Chronicles of Narnia*, the first magical creature Lucy Pevensie meets after entering the wardrobe.

He embodies the tension between duty and conscience—ordered to betray humans to the White Witch, he instead befriends Lucy and helps her escape.

The character has become shorthand for a gentle, conflicted guide figure: He gave off Mr. Tumnus vibes, all nervous hospitality and guilty secrets.
