Mary, Queen of Scots
Mary, Queen of Scots (1542–1587) was the queen of Scotland from infancy and a claimant to the English throne.
Her tumultuous reign included three marriages, forced abdication, and flight to England, where her Catholic faith and royal blood made her a threat to Protestant Elizabeth I.
After eighteen years of imprisonment, she was executed for her alleged role in assassination plots.
She remains a symbol of tragic royalty and religious conflict in British history.
