Latin American art
Hemisphere's visual heritage
Latin American art refers to visual art produced in Mexico, Central America, South America, and the Caribbean from pre-Columbian times to the present.
The term encompasses an enormous range of traditions, from ancient Maya and Aztec works to colonial religious painting to twentieth-century muralism and contemporary installation art.
Artists like Diego Rivera, Frida Kahlo, and Fernando Botero have achieved international recognition, though the category itself is sometimes criticized for lumping together vastly different cultures and histories under one geographic label.
