Klondike gold rush
1890s northern migration
The Klondike gold rush was a migration of prospectors to the Klondike region of Canada's Yukon Territory following the discovery of gold there in 1896.
The rush peaked in 1897–98, drawing tens of thousands through harsh wilderness, most of whom found nothing.
The event shaped popular images of frontier prospecting and northern adventure: scenes straight out of the Klondike gold rush.
