Katahdin
Appalachian Trail terminus
Katahdin is the highest peak in Maine, rising about 5,270 feet in Baxter State Park.
It marks the northern terminus of the Appalachian Trail, making it a destination for thru-hikers completing the 2,190-mile journey: We summited Katahdin after five months on the trail.
The name comes from the Penobscot word meaning "the greatest mountain."
