Japanese radish
Long white root
A Japanese radish is a daikon—a large, mild, white-fleshed radish central to East Asian cuisines.
Unlike the small red radishes common in Western salads, Japanese radishes grow long and cylindrical, sometimes over a foot in length.
They're eaten raw, pickled, or cooked in soups and stews: grated Japanese radish with soy sauce.
