Ironman Triathlon

Swim-bike-run ultramarathon

An Ironman Triathlon is an endurance race consisting of a 2.4-mile swim, a 112-mile bicycle ride, and a full 26.2-mile marathon, completed in that order without breaks.

Widely considered one of the most grueling single-day sporting events, it tests athletes' physical stamina and mental fortitude over roughly eight to seventeen hours.

The name comes from the original race held in Hawaii in 1978, and Ironman is now a trademarked brand organizing events worldwide.

She trained for two years before attempting her first Ironman.
