Tech news site

An insider is someone who belongs to a particular group or organization and therefore has access to information or influence that outsiders lack.

The term often appears in contexts of privilege or advantage: insider knowledge, insider trading.

Corporate insiders are executives or board members with material nonpublic information.

Political insiders have connections that give them advance notice or special access.

The word can carry negative connotations of exclusivity or unfair advantage, though being an insider is often simply neutral membership: As an insider, she understood the company culture.
