Indian traditions

South Asian heritage

Indian traditions encompass the customs, practices, and cultural heritage of India—religious rituals, festivals, dance, music, and social ceremonies passed down through generations.

The phrase covers Hindu, Muslim, Sikh, and other religious observances, as well as secular practices like classical arts, cuisine, and family customs: Indian traditions emphasize respect for elders.

The term may also refer to traditions of Indigenous peoples of the Americas, though "Native American traditions" is more precise for that meaning.
