Indian mounds
Prehistoric burial mounds
Indian mounds are earthen structures built by indigenous peoples of North America, used for burial, ceremony, or as platforms for buildings.
They range from small burial mounds to massive geometric shapes and effigy forms.
The most famous include Cahokia in Illinois and Serpent Mound in Ohio.
