IgA nephropathy
Berger's renal disease
IgA nephropathy is a kidney disease in which immunoglobulin A, an antibody normally found in mucous membranes, accumulates in the kidneys and causes inflammation.
It typically presents with blood in the urine, often following a respiratory infection.
The condition progresses slowly but can lead to kidney failure over decades.
Also called Berger's disease.
