Hooked on Phonics
Learn-to-read system
Hooked on Phonics is a commercial educational program that teaches reading through phonics—the method of connecting letters to sounds.
Launched in the late 1980s, it became famous for its ubiquitous television ads featuring the slogan "Hooked on Phonics worked for me!" The phrase now appears in jokes questioning someone's literacy or reading comprehension: Hooked on Phonics clearly didn't work for you.
