Five Ks
Khalsa identity markers
The Five Ks are five articles of faith worn by baptized Sikhs: kesh (uncut hair), kangha (wooden comb), kara (steel bracelet), kachera (cotton undergarment), and kirpan (ceremonial dagger).
Each begins with K in Punjabi and carries symbolic meaning—spiritual discipline, cleanliness, faith, modesty, and the duty to defend.
Together they mark membership in the Khalsa, the Sikh community of the initiated.
