Greek text
Ancient alphabet passage
Greek text refers to writing in the Greek language or alphabet, whether ancient or modern.
In publishing and design, "Greek text" or "greeking" means placeholder text—nonsense characters or blurred shapes standing in for real content during layout: The mockup uses Greek text until we finalize the copy.
This sense comes from the unintelligibility of Greek script to non-readers.
