Gone Girl

Disappeared female person

Gone Girl is the 2012 thriller novel by Gillian Flynn about a wife who stages her own disappearance to frame her husband for murder.

The title has become shorthand for a woman who elaborately deceives or manipulates, especially in relationships: She pulled a total Gone Girl on him.

The 2014 film adaptation reinforced the phrase's cultural currency.
