GameCube controller
Purple gaming peripheral
The GameCube controller is Nintendo's gamepad for the GameCube console (2001), notable for its asymmetrical button layout and ergonomic grip.
Its distinctive design—with a large green A button surrounded by smaller buttons—developed a devoted following, particularly among *Super Smash Bros.* players.
Nintendo has continued producing variants for newer consoles, and GameCube controller often appears in discussions of competitive play: Most Melee players still prefer the GameCube controller.
