French sculpture
Art carved in France
French sculpture refers to sculptural works created in France or by French artists, spanning from medieval cathedral ornamentation through Rodin's expressive bronzes to contemporary installation art.
The tradition is central to Western art history, encompassing Gothic stone carving, Baroque court commissions, and modern figures like Brancusi and Giacometti who worked in Paris.
The museum's French sculpture collection includes several Rodins.
