French lavender

Fragrant Mediterranean shrub

French lavender is a Mediterranean species of lavender with distinctive tufted flower heads topped by petal-like bracts, giving it a "rabbit ears" appearance.

It's more compact than English lavender and less cold-hardy, often grown as an ornamental: The French lavender by the patio attracted bees all summer.

Despite its name, it originated in Spain.
