EGOT

Four-trophy career achievement

EGOT is an acronym for the four major American entertainment awards: Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony.

Someone who has won all four is said to have achieved an EGOT, a rare distinction in the entertainment industry that demonstrates excellence across television, music, film, and theater.

The term functions as both a noun for the achievement itself and a verb: She EGOTed when she won the Oscar last year.

Only a few dozen people have accomplished this feat.
