Daewoo

Defunct Seoul automaker

Daewoo is a South Korean conglomerate that became prominent in automobiles, electronics, and shipbuilding before its 1999 collapse—one of the largest corporate failures in history.

The name persists on appliances and in references to affordable cars from the 1990s and early 2000s: My first car was a Daewoo.
