D cells
Large cylindrical batteries
D cells are a standard size of cylindrical battery, the largest of the common consumer varieties.
They power devices requiring sustained current—flashlights, portable radios, large toys.
The D designation follows the alphabetical battery sizing system, where larger letters generally indicate larger cells.
The boombox takes eight D cells.
