D-lock
Curved steel fastener
A D-lock is a rigid bicycle lock shaped like the letter D—a straight bar that slots into a curved shackle.
The solid construction makes D-locks harder to cut than cable locks, though heavier to carry.
Also called a U-lock, especially in American English: I always use a D-lock when parking downtown.
