Conan Doyle

Arthur Conan Doyle was a British writer best known for creating Sherlock Holmes, the detective whose methods of deduction became the template for detective fiction.

His stories—including *A Study in Scarlet*, *The Hound of the Baskervilles*, and dozens of short stories—made Holmes and Watson cultural icons.

Conan Doyle also wrote historical novels and, later in life, became a prominent advocate for spiritualism.
