Common Core

National curriculum framework

Common Core refers to a set of academic standards in mathematics and English language arts adopted by most U.S. states beginning around 2010.

The standards specify what students should know at each grade level.

Common Core became politically contentious, with critics arguing it represented federal overreach into local education: Parents protested Common Core math methods at the school board meeting.
