Chubby Checker
Famous twist singer
Chubby Checker is the stage name of Ernest Evans (born 1941), an American singer who popularized the Twist dance craze in the early 1960s.
His 1960 cover of "The Twist" reached number one twice—a unique chart achievement.
The name playfully echoes Fats Domino: Chubby for Fats, Checker for Domino.
