Chip and Dale

Acorn-hoarding cartoon duo

Chip and Dale are two cartoon chipmunks created by Disney, first appearing in 1943.

The mischievous pair are distinguished by their noses—Chip's is dark and small like a chocolate chip, Dale's is larger and reddish.

Their names form a pun on Chippendale, the 18th-century furniture style.

The characters appeared in theatrical shorts, often tormenting Donald Duck, and later starred in the animated series *Chip 'n Dale: Rescue Rangers*.
