Bondye
Haitian supreme god
Bondye is the supreme creator god in Haitian Vodou, derived from the French *bon Dieu* (good God).
Unlike the lwa—spirits who interact directly with humans—Bondye is distant and uninvolved in daily affairs, having delegated earthly matters to the spirits.
Vodou practitioners acknowledge Bondye as the ultimate source of all creation but direct their prayers and offerings to the lwa instead.
