Bechdel

Female dialogue standard

Bechdel is a surname most associated with American cartoonist Alison Bechdel, creator of the comic strip *Dykes to Watch Out For*.

The name appears most often in the phrase Bechdel test, a measure of female representation in fiction that asks whether a work features at least two women who talk to each other about something other than a man.

The movie technically passes the Bechdel test, but barely.

The test has become a widely referenced shorthand in discussions of gender representation in media.
