An Arctic explorer is someone who travels to the Arctic region for purposes of discovery, research, or adventure.
The term evokes the heroic age of polar exploration in the 19th and early 20th centuries, when figures like Peary and Amundsen sought the North Pole: She dreamed of becoming an Arctic explorer after reading about Shackleton.
Today it applies to scientists, adventurers, and documentary crews working in extreme northern latitudes.
