Ampère's law
Magnetism from electricity
Ampère's law describes the relationship between electric current and the magnetic field it produces.
In its simplest form, the law states that the magnetic field circulating around a closed loop is proportional to the electric current passing through that loop.
Named for French physicist André-Marie Ampère, the law is fundamental to electromagnetism and appears in Maxwell's equations, which unify electricity and magnetism.
