Alpha and Omega
Beginning and end
Alpha and Omega are the first and last letters of the Greek alphabet, used together to mean the beginning and the end—the totality of something.
The phrase comes from the Book of Revelation, where God declares himself "the Alpha and the Omega." It now describes anyone or anything that encompasses everything essential: She was the alpha and omega of the department.
The phrase suggests completeness, from start to finish.
