ASIMO

Japanese walking robot

ASIMO was a humanoid robot developed by Honda from 2000 to 2018, designed to walk on two legs and interact with humans.

Standing about four feet tall with a helmet-like head, ASIMO became an iconic symbol of robotics advancement, capable of climbing stairs, recognizing faces, and responding to voice commands.

The name derives from "Advanced Step in Innovative Mobility," though it also echoes Isaac Asimov, the science fiction writer who formulated the famous laws of robotics.
