zoo vets
Captive wildlife physicians
Zoo vets are veterinarians who specialize in treating animals kept in zoos—a field requiring expertise across hundreds of species, from elephants to tree frogs.
The work ranges from routine checkups to emergency surgery, often on creatures that can't communicate symptoms and may be dangerous to handle: The zoo vets sedated the tiger before examining its injured paw.
